Correction of deficiencies of lithium 12-hydroxystearate multipurpose greases through suitable additives proved successful in obtaining good metal wetting and corrosion protection in presence of water; use of more viscous oil improved load carrying properties; future trends; comparison between lithium 12-hydroxystearate grease and new nonmelting inorganic microgel, now being developed by Shell Oil.
