Assessment of relative merits of different blade materials of axial compressor from damage point of view; types of damage caused by objects sucked into aircraft engine; fatigue tests on damaged blades indicate that taking account of different stresses expected in different materials, (A alloy, steel and Ti) would all be working at about the same proportion of their fatigue strength.
