Theory is derived in which all strains vanish for any rigid-body motion in contrast to results of A.E.H.LOVE's theory; expressions for stress resultants and couples which satisfy homogeneous equilibrium equations are given in terms of three stress functions; also special forms of equations of new theory in case of circular cylinder.
