Fully developed turbojet engine, with minor modifications, was combined with light-weight free-wheeling power turbine to produce compact 8000-hp marine propulsion unit; commercial control features were combined with aircraft components to provide completely automatic remote control; engine has been developed to burn diesel fuel, and has demonstrated ability to run 500 hr at full load, indicating normal service life of 1000 hr between overhauls.
