Author applies term "liaison" to transmission system between prime mover and propeller; asynchronous motors can be adapted to drive any class of ship, except light high-speed naval vessels; for small cargo boats reduction gearing would be used between motor and propeller; with Diesel equipment, electric liaison gives better manoeuvring and possibilities of better grouping of sets, but has not nearly the same superiority as with turbines; examples of electrical equipment of several vessels; advantages of electric propulsion.
