NASA-FAA simulation program is designed to study problems anticipated in integration of SST into present and future Air Traffic Control (ATC) System; initial tests conducted consisted of simulated departure and arrival operations in New York terminal area under high density traffic-flow conditions with as many as six SST operations/hr; several types of radar and altitude-separation standards and handling concepts were investigated with present ATC System; results showed that for ATC System, in operations in which SST was given priority, subsonic traffic incurred excessive radar vectors and holding and ground delays.
