Following success of Dart-powered Gulfstream I business aircraft, Grumman Corp will introduce swept wing, pure jet Gulfstream II; objective of design of 54,500-lb AUW (all-up weight) aircraft was that it should match airport performance of turboprop aircraft; Gulfstream II is powered by two Rolls-Royce Spey 25 turbofans, mounted in pods on aft fuselage which is ideal for corporate operations where use of local airfields is practice; pressurization system provides sealevel cabin at altitudes to 22,000 ft, and 8000 ft cabin at 43,000 ft; at long-range cruise settings, Gulfstream II will fly 10 passengers plus baggage and three-man crew over 2130 nautical mi IFR stage against 90 knot headwind with full reserves.
