Fixed-cockpit piloted simulator studies of delta-planform and variable-wing-sweep supersonic transport configurations are conducted at Ames Research Center; validation of simulation was achieved by duplicating takeoff certification program of subsonic jet transport; evaluation of simulator was made by NASA pilots and FA A pilots involved in actual certification flights of airplane; paper is limited to discussion of normal takeoff, minimum control speed (ground), rotation characteristics, and initial climb-out; comparisons of takeoff characteristics are made between supersonic and subsonic jet transports.
