Differences between supersonic and subsonic flight operations, servicing, and maintenance are described; in SST, there are three crew members and flight deck with two pilot stations and flight engineer's systems station; communication and navigation systems controls are located in primary panel locations forward of pilots; attitude director and situation displays have been improved, are easier to read, and less prone to misinterpretation; in general there is increased reliance on equipment and systems automatic operation; maintenance facilities at major airports and special equipment required for installation and removal of engines and landing gear; development of scheduled and unscheduled maintenance program and use of AIDS (Aircraft Integrated Data System) which will permit monitoring of equipment performance in flight, subsystem tests, checkout, fault isolation and recording of performance data for failure prediction; paper refers to Boeing 733 SST.
