Achievements attained with research aircraft Griffon O2, built by Nord-Aviation, France; 330 experimental flights were carried out, and Mach 2 was attained in 1958; project was canceled when emphasis in French programs shifted to missiles; Griffon O2 power plant consists of coaxial arrangement of ramjet and turbojet where air intake and exit nozzle are common; development of composite power plant consisting of coaxial arrangement of turbofan of front-fan type and ramjet where both engines can be made to operate simultaneously; concept of turbofanramjet engine using liquid hydrogen as fuel and/or kerosene as fuel and liquid oxygen injection for thrust augmentation.
