Two main problems are considered; first is concerned with mathematical description of moving ground plane from driver's point of view; formulas governing transformation of ground position, velocity, and acceleration are developed, and fields themselves are plotted; positional field, which includes angular coordinates from eye position of points in driver's environment, is related to linear perspective; second problem discussed is use made by driver of positional, velocity, and acceleration fields; analysis covers condition of steady-state driving, where vehicle moves rectilinearly or curvilinearly with constant velocity.
