Ferguson four-wheel-drive arrangement and control system employed on Jensen C-V8 FF car differs from that used on Ferguson racing car in that master differential is simple planetary gear and drive to output shaft for front wheels is effected by means of set of three Morse Hy-Vo internally toothed chains; advantages of arrangement are shown and general layout of system and its method of operation are described; useful feature of Ferguson principle is that torque distribution to front and rear axles can be divided in any ratio, to suit weight distribution; in case of Jensen FF, ratio is 37% to front and 63% to rear wheels.
