Rear servo and accumulator piston assemblies for automotive transmissions are completed at rates up to 900/hr on 18-station transfer machine at Hydra-matic Div of General Motors Corp; uniformly high quality is obtained because all nine components of each assembly are automatically inspected; also less floor space is needed than for manual assembly and inventory requirements were reduced; machine and operations are described and illustrated.
