Experiments described show that gas has most important part to play in development of high rates of heat transfer by use of infra-red; object of paper is to show what part gas can take in radiation (infra-red) heating, how it is particularly fortunate in characteristics of radiant sources available, and what are practical considerations for successful application of infra-red to drying processes.
