Commentary on British program of merchant ship construction, which has been undergoing modification to facilitate production of greater proportion of merchant ships in higher speed categories, for services in which such vessels can be advantageously employed; first of 12,000ton deadweight standard cargo ships under modified program has recently been completed at a North-East Coast shipyard, and production scheme has been organized to maintain steady flow of new ships.
