Group of 40 seagoing tugs for U S Maritime Commission, equipped with supercharged Enterprise Diesel engines; propulsion plant arrangement in each tug provides for two engines, each rated 1160 hp at 350 rpm, driving single propeller through Universal reduction gears, which give propeller speed of 132-rpm; each engine has max rating of 1400 hp at 325 rpm; each is connected to its pinion through intermediary of Westinghouse electric coupling.
