Types of space mission and velocity increments required; nuclear rocket applications are divided into missions which start from Earth's surface and require thrusts greater than vehicle takeoff weight, and missions which start from satellite orbit about Earth requiring thrusts only small fraction of starting weight; particular consideration given to low power space nuclear rocket concept and estimated performance.
