Tooling changeovers to cam-locked disposable inserts in machining diesel engine parts at Cooper-Bessemer Corp resulted in lower tool costs and less downtime; example of producing nominally 13-in. diam holes in diesel cylinder head frames, with operation performed on Ingersoll milling machine equipped with special multiple-tool boring head; other application of toolholder and insert combinations is in rough boring of cylinder sleeves for diesel engines; machining of 24-in. diam bores in Meehanite diesel cylinder blocks is one of more difficult jobs.
