Truck traction and stability tests on ice reported; 4-wheel drive is safer than either front wheel or rear wheel drive on surfaces with low friction coefficients; front wheel drive is good on straightaway, but undesirable on curve; rear wheel drive vehicle is apt to go into flat spin when excess torque is applied to driving wheels; tests for which two heavy duty trucks were used.
