Study of approaches leading to optimum vehicle considering requirements of thermodynamics and human factors, in addition to structures; several space vehicle configurations are presented including ballistic and glide type, to illustrate problems encountered during phases of spaceflight, entry into atmosphere and landing including aerodynamic heating and loading, meteoroid impact and other problems; materials and constructions suitable for optimum space structures.
