Order of decreasing resistance to thermal shock cracking of alloys investigated was S-816, S-590, Vitallium, 422-19, X-40, and Stellite 6; observations at NACA Lewis laboratory indicate that certain gas turbine components fail in tension as result of thermal stresses.
