Specific consumption was practically same for all fuels although there were some instances where lower cetane number fuels resulted in lower consumption; engine roughness, combustion knock and peak pressures were observed to increase as cetane number decreased; exhaust smoke and temperatures were nearly identical for all fuels. Photographs not included with mimeographed copies. (see also (review and discussion) Nat Petroleum News v 36 n 40 Oct 4 1944 p R674-5 (discussion) R675-6)
