Guidance-control technique for soft automatic lunar landings is developed analytically indicating that technique can be translated into physically feasible system; interaction of guidance, control, trajectory, and operational constraints in development of system are considered; mathematical representation of complete system, including spacecraft dynamics, was programmed for computer; results show system to be flexible enough to perform successful landings for wide range of commanded space trajectories and velocity profiles in conjunction with combinations of boundary conditions (initial altitude, desired range-to-go, and desired time of flight).
