Expected meteoroid environment is defined in terms of particle flux as function of particle mass; specific reference is made to Apollo mission; impact hazard to spacecraft as result of meteoroid environment is analyzed on basis of vulnerability of various materials and structures; effectiveness of "meteoroid bumper concept" in protecting spacecraft from meteoroid impact is treated analytically and experimentally, particularly with regard to second sheet or main hull response.
