Two new types of oil engines, to provide improved fuel consumption and reliability, built by Ruston and Hornsby; first range of engines, replacing firm's VR series, is 4-stroke, medium speed, cold starting vertical type, supplied in powers ranging from 90 bhp at 750 rpm to 1040 bhp at 375 rpm; second range comprises pressure charged oil engines based on larger sizes of new range; pressure charging effected by means of centrifugal blower driven by exhaust gas turbine.
