NASA Goddard Space Flight Center's S-6 satellite is instrumented to obtain data of physical and chemical processes occurring in upper atmosphere between 250-900 km; spherical shaped spacecraft, made from 0.025-in. thick stainless steel, is 35 in, in diam and weighs 400 lb; details of neutral mass spectrometers, vacuum gages, and electrostatic probes which comprise primary detectors; spacecraft ancillary flight equipment, including primary power supply, attitude-measuring equipment, telemetry, ground support, and command system; environment test conditions.
