PFM (pulse FM) discriminator for satellite applications consists of band of relatively closely spaced bandpass filters, each followed by envelope detector, from which combination one center frequency (that having greatest output) is selected by decision circuitry, as frequency of PFM pulse; technique for design of optimum filter bank with respect to detected snr and resolution, considering number of filters, type and bandwidth of each filter; presentation of performance curves and significant gains over current techniques.
