In-flight simulator, with variable static stabilities, damping, control sensitivities and turbulence response offers efficient and safe means of evaluating flying qualities of wide range of aircraft in actual flight; in-flight simulation is playing central part in establishment of flying qualities specifications for military aircraft; although results of those programs may not apply directly to general aviation aircraft due to differences in pilot training and mission; tools and techniques are well suited to similar studies of general aviation airplane-pilot combination.
