Problems associated with operating aboard aircraft carriers at sea and their effect on equipment servicing, handling, and operation; design details which are dictated by these environmental conditions; problems related to various types of modern naval aircraft in operation ashore and afloat are analyzed in light of their effect on operational performance and their origin in design stage; it is concluded that thorough knowledge of operating environment is essential to design engineer if satisfactory weapons systems are to be produced for U S Navy in future.
