Part of extension now opened is 4 1/2 mi long and, except for short length, entirely underground; lengths of twin tunnel were constructed in 32 sections from nine shafts sunk at stations and at intermediate sites; station at Manor House is of basement type built under roadway, similar to that at Piccadilly Circus; electric energy for operating line obtained from North Metropolitan Electric Power Supply Co on 11,000-v, 50-cycle three-phase system.
