Paper attempts to assess design trends and shows that rear-engined single-deckers are proving more attractive to urban than to country operators; there is still considerable demand for models with amidships-mounted underfloor engines, while front-mounted engine is still unchallenged among lower-priced coach chassis; among double-deckers, rear-engined models continue to find new customers although current production is evenly balanced between front and rear-engined models.
