Offshore tanker terminal at Thessaloniki, Greece, was designed and built in 41 wk for Esso by English and Greek contractors; breasting pier 2500 ft offshore has concrete deck 2 ft thick, 150x60 ft, supported by H-piles; it accommodates up to 27,500 dwt tankers on ocean side and smaller ships on inshore side; breasting pier was built by driving vertical piles from floating rig and concreting deck; batter piles were then driven from rig set on deck; sea mooring further out accommodates tankers up to 65,000 dwt.
