Information about towed deep ocean photographic system in continuous use and development of U S Naval Research Laboratory, including arrangement of lights and cameras, use of longer ranged sensors to regulate camera operation, slow scan TV system, and shipboard processing techniques; more than 100,000 bottom photographs have been produced; emphasis is on use of systems in 1963 and 1964 searches for lost submarine Thresher; notes are given on some proposed future improvements.
