Experimental and analytical study verified applicability of cumulative-damage concept to failure of propellant-liner bonds in test specimens and showed that M.A.Miner's relation holds; application of concept is demonstrated by application to Minuteman Wing II second-stage motor; useful life of bonds was computed using laboratory test data, structural analysis for static stresses caused by cure shrinkage, cooling, and gravity, estimated transient stresses caused by transportation and handling, and statistical distribution of moduli propellant batches.
