Optical system, designed to monitor attitude of missile during early launch phase, uses passive reflective components mounted on missile to return pair of laser beams transmitted from ground station; beams have their polarization state modulated by reflective elements such that polarization is function of missile attitude; returned beams are passed through polarization analyzing system at ground station and missile attitude computed from measured polarization parameters.
