One of basic principles in tire compounding, is to base all compoundson 100 parts (by weight) of rubber hydrocarbon (RHC), and relate addition of all other compounding ingredients to this base of 100RHC; regarding tread compounds for agricultural tires, major requirements of rear tractor tire tread are that tread have resistance to abrasion (wear), cleat-tearing, and weathering; with trend towards larger and higher horsepower tractors, service-performance demands on tractor tires have increased, necessitating certain design, construction, and compound changes; steps to be taken in development of new compounds are outlined.
