Study deals with Earth tracking dynamics of Radio Telescope Satellite for motion in plane of orbit and results of linearized dynamic stability analysis, based upon attitude stabilization by passive gravity gradient control; analysis represents first, logical step in analysis of vehicle dynamics; to obtain desired measurements of LF radio signals from outer space, configuration is assumed to consist of central spherical body with four tubular antennas extending 750 ft; potential stability problems caused by coupling between rigid, central body motions and motions of flexible antennas are emphasized.
