Tonnage likely to be affected and ultimately to benefit from nuclear powering includes, e.g., specialized carriers to Far East, Australia and New Zealand, including perhaps meat trade, wherein higher speeds could lead to carriage of chilled instead of frozen products with great market benefits; passenger trades on these routes, also, are likely to benefit; this is discussed for comparisons of diesel and nuclear refrigerated ship and conventional turbine and nuclear passenger liner. Extracts from paper in symposium organized by Brit Nuclear Energy Soc, Brit Nuclear Forum and Joint Panel on Nuclear Mar Propulsion.
