Recently inaugurated 200,000-ton dw Mitsubishi unit at Nagasaki on Kyushu island is largest of type; initial aim is to complete 100,000-ton dw ship in 2 1/2 mo, with ultimate target of 2 mo; other facilities of this yard are also described; oldest of docks, where 132,344-ton dw Nissho Maru was constructed, is operated by Sasebo Heavy Industries; Ishikawajima-Harima No. 2 works at Yokohama covers some 62 acres; their No. 1 yard, Mitsui Chiba works, Hitachi Sakai yard, etc, are also discussed.
