Thames; length 345 ft, breadth 28 ft, surface displacement 2165 tons; each of Vickers-Armstrongs twin engines has 10 cyl of 21-in. diam and 21-in. stroke, and works on 4-stroke single-acting cycle; at official sea trials 10,000 shp at 405 rpm was developed by two engines at 22 1/2 knots.
