Orbit Injection Control System, developed for McGill University High Altitude Research Program (HARP), will be used to set heading of Martlet missile for its second and third stage firings; system design approach involves optical sensing of earth line and sun line on sampled data basis, impulsive precession of spinning missile through use of intermittent fast acting nitrogen jets and solid state electronic logic to activate reaction jets over proper portion of spin cycle; considerations involved in determining system and component design approaches and performances and characteristics of resulting control equipment.
