Haul-down system developed by Royal Canadian Navy for landing CHSS-2 antisubmarine helicopters on destroyer decks can operate at winds to 45 knots and in heavy seas; haul-down cable locks inside helicopter and is maintained at constant tension by deck winch; as aircraft touches deck rapid securing device locks probe housing and traverse system, which also aligns helicopter to move into hangar; system can be applied to other helicopter types.
