Majority of helicopters have single main lifting rotor, and tail rotor which compensates main rotor torque and is used for directional control; design features of tail rotor; summarized classification of various vibration problems pointing out types of divergent vibrations, resonances and instabilities; types of instability and resonance which may occur; means used to predict and avoid such vibrations include various calculations in design stage and special test stands for development work; substantiation tests enable flight tests to be undertaken with tail rotor free from divergent vibrations.
