Notes on program sponsored by U S Bureau of Ships to develop coating systems for protection of steel foil assemblies, and results obtained so far in first phase of work; in areas where only high-velocity impingement and corrosion must be resisted, several resinous marine coatings of epoxy, polyurethane, coal tar-epoxy, nitrile-phenolic and glass-filled polyester type will offer protection under operating velocities to 90 knots; where cavitation is also problem, resilient elastomeric coating in hardness range of Shore A 70 will be required.
