Feeding oxygen into intake air of Diesel engine increased power output by 60% without detonation or other ill effects to engine; in applying oxygen boost to airplane Diesels for take-off, 6000-hp transport plane would need about 200 lb of liquid oxygen (approximately 20 gal) to supply additional 2000 hp for 2 min required for take-off.
