Designed and constructed by Northrop at Hawthorne, Calif, airplane represents first successful true flying wing; it has no tail surfaces or auxiliary surfaces and no fuselage; power plant and personnel are housed within contours of airfoil; two engines are buried in wing on either side of pilot's cockpit, driving pusher propellers through extension shafts.
