Study being part of program on "Trafficability of Soils as Related to Mobility of Military Vehicles", was conducted to determine distribution of stresses imparted to soil by moving pneumatic-tired vehicle and to compare suitability of 3 different types of pressure-sensing devices for measuring these stresses; effects of soil strength, tire inflation pressure, vehicle speed, acceleration, deceleration, etc investigated; results and recommendations for future tests.
