Feasibility of using rubber base propellants, developed at Jet Propulsion Laboratory, for propulsion of rockets such as WAC Corporal and V-2, is considered; design for high altitude sounding rocket XSPV (i.e., experimental solid propellant vehicle) is presented; propellant, JPL121, is one of series of compositions based on polysulfide rubber as fuel and various quantities of ammonium perchlorate and potassium perchlorate as oxidizers; ballistic data.
