Relatively rapid loss of pressurizing through meteorite punctures and permeability of skin material represent problems in operation of such satellites; development program on skins that rigidize automatically under space conditions, carried out by Hughes Aircraft Co; 3 systems consisting of resin impregnated interlayer of extremely thin and light fabric between 2 Mylar skins are analyzed; performance data on 2 systems using polyester and epoxy resin and activated, respectively, by ultraviolet and infrared radiation.
