In recent years number of fires and explosions in engine rooms of Norwegian dry cargo ships and tankers has been relatively high, and this has given rise to desire to try, for reasons of safety, to arrive at more uniform arrangement for engine rooms; working group was set up by Det norske Veritas' Tech Committee, and recommendations agreed upon on Feb 22 1962 are given under title of -- Guiding Lines for Arrangement and Equipment in Engine Rooms of Motor Ships Having Conventional Machinery, with One Main Engine, with Reference to Ordinary Tankers and Dry Cargo Ships at Present Stage of Development.
